The public has been advised to be aware of a money making scheme that is currently being promoted in the country.

A source close to The Solomon Star yesterday said the scheme is a scam and the public should take heed of its operations.

The source who is an officer from one of the commercial banks in Honiara claimed a man is currently luring people to pay certain amounts of money in exchange for a huge amount in return.

“The officer believes that a person is going around town and telling people to pay certain amounts of money in exchange for a larger amount of cash,” the officer said.

It was also claimed that the person promises $10,000.00 in return of $4,500.000.

The person has promised people that they will receive eleven million, five hundred thousand United States dollars (USD$11.5m) from overseas into their bank accounts soon.

But the officer warned the public to be on alert when dealing with any persons claiming to operate such a scheme.

“This news is purposely to let the general public aware of this scam and not to get involved.”

The country has over the years experienced similar money making schemes which had seen hundreds of people giving away money without any returns.

The Central Bank and the police had in the past issued warnings to the public not to engage in such schemes.
