Managing Director of MASE Business Services Centre Martin Housanau has written a formal apology letter to the Minister of Finance Rick Houenipwela last week.

In his letter dated January 16, Mr Housanau apologised for any misconceptions and inconviniences he may have caused.

While the Finance Minister did not know the reason behind Mr Housanau’s apology letter, he said he will not make speculations on reasons surrounding the letter.

However he said this might quite possibly due to the media statements between them last year, when the Mase boss was very active and outspoken on behalf of MMF against the MP.

When Solomon Star asked Mr Housanau as to why he had written an apology letter, he explained that the formal written apology to the Finance Minister was a personal one to show respect in our custom to him as a paramount chief and as an uncle.

“This has been arranged by chiefs and to show respect to him (Houenipwela), I must make a formal apology,” Housanau said.

He added that media statements between them last year has caused issues between people back home who became unsettle with it due to their level of understanding.

But he said those things has to be explained to people back home to understand what was happening and not to be confused and unsettled by what goes out in the media.

Mr Housanau assured the MP he will not make any more media statements that bring disrepute to him personally.
