WORK on the Bank South Pacific (BSP) new branch office at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara is progressing.

The branch will provide banking services to the general public and the guests at the hotel.

A check by the Solomon Star early this week revealed that work had been making steady progress.

Work is now on the structures and the construction team is working overtime in the weekends to meet the deadline.

A spokesman for the construction firm said they have a dateline to beat.

BSP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ian Clyne during his visit a fortnight ago said he wants to see the new branch up and running by mid next year.

"We are expected to see the new branch operational within 18 months," he said.

Mr Clyne said the new branch is expected to provide normal banking services as part of their expansion programme.

Meanwhile, work on setting up 11 BSP ATMs around Honiara and parts of the country have been completed.

The bank is now waiting for the arrival of its ATM cards before launching this new service.
