ISABEL Development Company (IDC) has appointed a woman to head its operations.
She is Catherine Gasetore-Launa Nori who also comes from Isabel.
Chairman of the IDC board Chief Denis Lulei revealed this to the Solomon Star yesterday.
Mr Lulei said Mrs Nori was appointed by the board last month.
The 42-year-old manageress holds a bachelor of arts in commerce and accounting from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia.
She manages a private construction firm owned by her husband prior to her appointment last month.
Mrs Nori has also worked as a finance/admin officer for World Fish centre, ICLARM, a former bank officer with the former National Bank of Solomon Islands (NBSI) and senior finance officer Home Finance Corporation.
Mr Lulei said Mrs Nori’s appointment is based on merit and qualification.
"We appointed her because of her experience and qualification and we look forward for her term with us," he said.
Mrs Nori is currently on maternity leave and will take up her new job in May or June this year.
She will lead the company for the next 12 months subject to renewable based on performance.
Her appointment came after former general manager Edmund Gagahe concluded his contract.
In the meantime, Mr Lulei, who is also the managing director of IDC, Pacific Printers and Solcane, is the supervising general manager.
