A MAJOR musical concert is set for this coming Christmas and New year in Honiara.
A statement from the organiser Treasure Islands Promotion said, arrangement are well underway for the Merry Christmas Music Concert which will be held at the Art Gallery on the 25th and 26th of December.
“Some 15 local bands, choirs and traditional dancing groups have been booked and are ready to rock the Art Gallery Arena from 2pm to late 6:30pm marking the Christmas festive season.
“It will be the first time for such a musical concert to be organised for Honiara residents who will be celebrating their Christmas in the city, and for those who may not have anything to do after prayer and food to come and be part of this Christmas music concert and be part of the happy celebration.”
Henry Star Dora of Treasure Islands Promotion who is organising and promoting the event said, it will be a marvellous, incredible fascinating musical showdown by our very own local musicians.
“If you have nothing to do that very day, then come to the Art Gallery arena to be part of this Christmas music festivities.”
Some 20 local bands, Choirs, traditional dancing groups have shown willingness and have registered to participate in the 2016 Christmas & New Year Music Concerts.
A similar musical event is also in plan to welcome the New Year 2017 from the 31st and 1st of January 2017, Mr Dora said.
“These festive historical events are very important in our annual calendar and are being celebrated worldwide by Christians and non-Christians alike, hence we are very grateful to organise this event and be part of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
“This is a new initiative in Honiara and we are happy to be part of it and indeed grateful to organise it,” said Mr. Dora.
