THE only sole water provider Solomon Island Water Authority (SIWA) could no longer stand the continuous practice of illegal connection thus begins tough action.

Many White River homes had their pipes ripped by SIWA officers as a result of illegal connections to SIWA underground pipes.

Sophia Tango of SIWA said the disconnection exercise started two weeks ago and will cover all residents up towards the city’s east.

Mrs Tango said the practise is costing SIWA a lot and has affected a lot of genuine customers who pay for using water.

Another SIWA officer Marista Kapini pleaded for people to comply with SIWA regulations and do the right thing.

Mrs Kapini said prior to the disconnection exercise, SIWA carried out awareness programs in the media and issued warnings for people to settle their bills.

“People evaded payment of bills for many years so it is time to settle the problem.”

Silas Talosui supervisor of the Disconnection Unit said the disconnection Team will continue with their exercise this week in white River.

“Users should settle whatever problems they have to avoid further problems.
