The New Premier of Makira Ulawa Province addresses the Provincial Assembly shortly after he was sworn in as the premier.

The premier's election for Makira Ulawa province was held yesterday and the former premier has retained the seat with a landslide victory.

Thomas Weape after the close of nominations on Saturday afternoon had two other rivals who vied against him for the top provincial post.

The other two candidates were Martin Karani and Meadows Sunaone.

However after the election yesterday, the result showed that the former premier still holds fame.

Mr Weape polled 11 votes, five clear ahead of his second contender Martin Karani with only six and Meadows with only three.

The Premier has already taken his oath for execution of office of the Premier immediately after the results were declared.
