PEOPLE from Temotu Province working and living the Guadalcanal Plain Palm Oil Ltd (GPPOL) are being repatriated back to their home province for fear of their safety.
This was after claims of threats received continuously after the shoot out that happened on the plains during the New Year.
The more than 300 Temotuans were said to have sought assistance from their province for a return passage to repatriate them home.
Temotu premier Fr Brown Beu when contacted on the matter confirmed that the province had already facilitated the repatriation of some 300 people back to Temotu.
Mr Beu said the province had been informed of the situation surrounding its people and had made a visit to GPPOL.
"Upon my arrival I was informed that they wish to return home and therefore need my assistance."
The premier said he asked the people if they are serious with their request and the answer he got from them was "we want to go home."
Fr Beu confirmed that with the assistance from two members of parliament of Temotu Province, the first 300 hundred people arrived at Lata on Tuesday via M.V Bikoi 1.
He said the other remaining hundred plus will be transported back to the province as soon as possible.
Detail on the cause of the situation between the two parties was unclear as Police from Tetere Police Station were not able to comment on the issue.
"We are aware of the issue but will not comment at this point of time."
Spokesperson from the station assured that police is monitoring the situation adding that they are in control.
Temotuans heading home were those residing and working at GPPOL 1, 2 and 3.
