Calls to investigate GRML foreign managers

Local employees of Gold Ridge Mining Limited (GRLM) calls on relevant authorities to investigate foreign managers coming into the country to work for GRML on whether they have valid work permits.

They question genuineness of the company to invest in the country or just to come in to rip our resources and avoid paying taxes due to the government, leaving our people disadvantaged.

It became suspicious when foreigners come to work only for a few months and later replaced with a new manager.

They claimed foreigners coming to work for the company will spend only a few months and off they go.

“These foreigners’ work performance is questionable and it seems they do not know much about their jobs.

“Despite of that they were paid huge wages over the locals who did almost all the jobs required by the company.

“We are curious whether these foreigners have work permits and a qualified and experience to come and work here.

“It is obvious these people came in as tourist. After three or so months they took off from the country.

“So we call on relevant authorities to keep an eye on the company’s operation,” the concerned employees said.

They said it is enough to mess around with the laws of this country.

“We are a sovereign state and we need to be very strict on this and take tougher measures against such practice.”

Chairman of Allied Gold when asked why there is always a change of company management over the years, he said there are a few reasons to it.

Mr Frank Terranova said better opportunities, tax and performance are some of the factors in play regarding the issue of concern.
