Temotu Outer Islands hit by strong wind

Outer Islands in the Temotu Province had been hit hard by the recent strong wind.

Speaking from Reef Islands via mobile phone a resident,
Richard Bapo was quoted as saying  that most of the fruit trees have been blown down by the strong winds.

As a result most of the fruits they rely on for food fell to the ground.

It is likely that during the coming months most of the Islands will face food shortage as they rely mainly on the fruit trees, Mr Bapo said.
