POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a seven-year-old boy whose body was found yesterday in an old refrigerator some 200 metres away from his home at Borderline, East Honiara.

A relative said the boy went missing on New Year’s day and it was only yesterday that they found the body in an refrigerator under another man’s house.

“We were alerted by the parents and started searching the area but to no avail,” the relative said.

“It was only today (yesterday) that neighbours smell something from under their house.

“We opened the refrigerator and found the body inside.

“By the look of it, he appeared to have died from suffocation.

“He’s eyes seemed to have popped out and his body had already started to swell up, maybe due to the heat inside,” the relative said.

Police yesterday said they are investigating the matter and treating the death as suspicious. The body is lying in the hospital morgue awaiting a post mortem.

In another incident, police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a young girl believed to be in her 20s at Ranadi on Saturday.

Relatives of the girl told the Solomon Star that she went out with her boyfriend on Friday night.

It was on Saturday that one of the security officers in a compound at Ranadi brought the body to the Hospital.

She was already dead.
