Reports reaching this paper said a fight broke out between two parties at Nagu village, Santa Cruz over the weekend.
The incident caused so much fear to the children and mothers within the community as tension in the village remained high.
The incident had prompted the Lata police to act swiftly in response to the incident to ease tension between the disputing factions in the village.
Temotu provincial police commander (PPC) Alfred Uiga while confirming the incident said his officers were deployed to the village over the weekend and are monitoring the situation while undergoing investigation.
Mr Uiga said police received reports that a number of homes were burned down, coconut trees chopped down with food gardens destroyed and uprooted during the brawl.
He said due to lack of logistics police was unable to attend the scene on time to ease the tension between the parties involved.
“However our officers are already at the village and have started off with the investigation.”
The PPC said arrests should be made after the investigation is completed.
Mr Uiga called on rival parties to allow police carry out the investigation and do not take law in their own hands.
“We will not tolerant such action as there are proper ways to solve problem rather than through unlawful activities.”
Its still not clear whether there are any injuries or death following the dispute.
Police are yet to know the real cause of the dispute.
