Police chief disappointed

POLICE Commissioner John Lansley says he’s disappointed with the current trend of public alcohol consumption in central Honiara.

“I am greatly concerned about this growing trend,” Mr Lansley said yesterday.

 “With this festive season approaching, we will not tolerate this behaviour.”

Mr Lansley said they will consult with the Liquor Licensing Authority, which issues licences to beer outlets, on this issue.

Police will carry out ‘Operation Clean City’ to tackle the problem.

 


Police post reopens

THE police post at Babanakira, west Guadalcanal, has been reopened last weekend.

Police Commissioner John Lansley was at hand to witness the reopening ceremony and meet community leaders.

Mr Lansley said he was pleased to see the police post reopened.

He said police will continue to work with communities in the area to address law and order issues.

 


Vanuatu boat here

A VANUATU patrol boat is expected in the country today on a partnership mission between the two countries.

Police Commissioner John Lansley said the aim of the visit is to establish and strengthen the mutual relations between the two countries and share information and naval maritime skills.

He said this is an opportunity for officers of the two countries to interact and share ideas.
