Young offenders told to stay out of trouble

A Honiara magistrate has ordered two juvenile offenders to keep out of trouble for the next 12 months.

Failure would result in their arrest and imprisonment.

The 17-year-old and 14-year old juveniles will appear again in court a year from Friday to receive the court’s sentencing.

The two juveniles and adults John Buludae and Patrick Kamai have pleaded guilty to one count each of common assault charges on Thursday in the Honiara Magistrate’s Court.

These were in relation to an incident at No. 3 this year when a fight broke out between the accused and another two men.

The two adults were already imposed with a bound over sentence on Thursday.

Principal Magistrate Jim Seuika told the young offenders that despite the mitigating features submitted on their behalf, the court considered common assault a serious offence.

They will return to court November 23, next year for the court to deliver its sentence.
