Call for national reconciliation

A Malaitan has urged the national government to address the bona fide demands of the people of Guadalcanal and facilitate national reconciliation as a way to achieving lasting peace.

The leader, who asked not to be named, said unless these issues are addressed lawlessness will return as soon as RAMSI exits our shores.

He also urged RAMSI to assist in these areas, saying the good work it had been doing here would be all waste if there’s no national reconciliation and the bona fide demands of the Guadalcanal people are not met.

“What guarantee do we have of a peaceful Solomon Islands if these underlying issues are not address?” the leader asked.

He said the government must seriously consider his suggestion.

H also called for proper training of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
