Youth to address congress on climate change today

A YOUTH leader Maylen Sese will make a presentation on climate change to the Seventh Day Adventist Youth Congress today.

The congress is being held at the SDA Maranatha Hall in east of Honiara.  

Ms Sese is one of the country’s youth reps to the United 

The initiative is part of the youth congress climate change awareness.

This is to ensure youths understand the impacts of climate change which is currently affecting our shores.

Ms Sese will talk to youths on the effects of global warming on Pacific islands, challenges to youths about climate change and her experience at climate change summit in Copenhagen and to encourage youths on the outcome of climate change.

“I expect youths to understand how climate change is affecting our shores,” she said.

This will help them face the challenges ahead and get prepared on how to deal with the effects of global warming”.

Ms Sese will be joined by a local climate change host, Tozen Leokana.

Mr Leokana said the initiative is significant and it is about the awareness of climate change.

“It is for youths to take in mind how climate is affecting our country.

“It is also to help youths understand that climate change is like a time bomb if we are not wary about its effect,” she said.

Mr Leokana said the program will help youths face the challenges and know that climate change is caused by industrialised countries.

Footage of climate change will be shown to youths as part of the presentations.
