ABOUT 26 verifiers are undegoing a one week training in Honiara to scan Census information inside the computer system.
The workshop started yesterday at Solomon Islands Broadcasting Cooperation (SIBC), was conducted by Census office.
Census Data Processing Manager, Douglas Kimi said it is a new system being introduced in the Pacific.
“Fiji has used it in its last census,” he said.
“Now Solomon Islands and Vanuatu are using it in their census,” Mr Kimi said.
He said the system is very good because it uses less time and less computers to enter all the information collected from the census.
“In the past people will do data entry,” he said.
“Now with the new system, we will scan the information.”
He said this system is good because you can identify any errors and can replace it quickly.
Readsoft Company is producing these forms for the scan.
Mr Kimi said there are five modules that work together to complete this process.
This includes manager; scanning; interpreter; verifier and transfer.
The Census verifiers are expected to complete their work in 3-4 months.
