IF THERE was another atrocious murder incident to have occurred in the country, it would be at Aola, Tanagao village East Guadalcanal.

A man’s arm was chopped off completely in a brutal murder incident on Saturday last week.

Police commissioner Peter Marshall said the National Criminal Investigation Department CID crime unit and Guadalcanal provincial police have arrested the allege murderer last Saturday.

“A person 34 years of age, who was suspected of being involved, has been arrested and charged for murder and remanded in custody until 25 January,” Mr Marshall said.

He said it was a very nasty death.

“The man’s arm was severed by a bush knife and cut completely off.”

Mr Marshall said investigation is still continuing.

Police are appealing to the families of both the accused and the victim to let the police get on and do the investigation.

“We appeal to them not to get involved with any disturbances amongst the families,” the police commissioner said.

“Our further appeal to members of Tanagao village is - don’t take sides, let us do the investigations, let us put the man appropriately before the court where the evidence will be heard by the judge in due course and let the law take its natural course.”
