A WARRANT of arrest was issued for a young man accused of raping a 60-year-old woman after she failed to attend court.
Lesly Chachia is facing a count of rape, criminal trespass and assault causing actual bodily harm.
He allegedly committed the offences on 28 August 2008 on Gela, Central Province.
His lawyer Hubert Fugui of the Public Solicitor’s Office told the court yesterday he does not know the whereabouts of his client.
“I haven’t seen my client for quite a long time,” Mr Fugui told Magistrates Steve Wilson.
Chachia’s appearance early this month was excused.
But he was required in court yesterday.
Mr Wilson issued a warrant for Chachia’s arrest.
