Man fined for resisting arrest

A MAGISTRATE yesterday told a 41-year-old man solving domestic dispute when under the influence of liquor is not the right way of doing things.

Steve Wilson reminded accused Adam Rex Siama when imposing a $150 fine on him yesterday.

Siama was charged with criminal trespass, resisting arrest, and intimidation.

However in court yesterday the criminal trespass and intimidation charges that were committed on 25 November last year were withdrawn due to reconciliation between the accused and victim.

The victim, who was the accused’s de facto wife, was present in court to confirm the reconciliation.

Siama pleaded guilty to resisting arrest.

Mr Wilson gave credit for the accused’s early guilty plea and for being a first time offender.

But he told the accused not to solve domestic matters when under the influence of liquor.

“It made no sense to solve matters when you are drunk. You only make things worse doing that.”

A fine of $150 was imposed in default of 10 days. Siama has seven days to pay.

Edward Cade from the Public Solicitor’s Office represented the accused.
