THE principal of White River School’s alleged misappropriation of funds have been described as ‘unfounded’ for by the school board, Friday last week.
School board chairman Fr Henry Teho in a statement said after their meeting last week, the board found those allegations of misappropriation by some parents in regards to the secondary school principal Charlie Tango and his brother primary school headmaster George Tango were not true.
The two brothers were claimed to have purchased a school generator using school funds and also misused other school assets.
Fr Teho said there were three things the school board came up with during the meeting.
Firstly, he said the school board wishes to clarify to the parents that the generator was duly purchased by Charlie from the school after he received a request from the primary sector that the generator needs to be sold to help account for some of their outstanding expenses.
“The generator has been sold for $6,000 to Mr Charlie which the board found nothing wrong with,” Fr Teho said.
Secondly, Fr Teho said in regards to the misappropriation allegations the board was fully satisfied with the school administrations explanation that the expending of funds is attuned to its approved budget for last year.
Mr Teho added that an audit report would be distributed to parents in March during the schools general meeting.
