STAFF of Save the Children working in the provinces completed a two-week workshop on Reflection and Induction yesterday.

Deputy Manager for Youth Outreach Partnership Project (YOPP) Eric Houma said the objective of the workshop was to reflect and document experiences, challenges, and successes under the Community Sector Program Youth Outreach Project.

He said it’s also to familiarise Project Staff and Provincial Team leaders with the Youth Outreach Partnership Project (YOPP).

“The workshop is also to improve staff knowledge of Save the Children processes and policies, improve skills in facilitating strength-based approaches to sustainable development,” Mr Houma said.

He said in the second week of the workshop they did an induction training on the Youth Out Reach Partnership Project (YOPP).

Mr Houma said the Youth Outreach Partnership Project is a new project funded by AUSAID for communities to come up with activities they wanted and Save the Children will facilitate to give them money for activities that they would like in their communities.

“With this project we need a lot of support from the communities to drive the activities,” Mr Houma said.

He said Save the Children also acknowledges the Community Sector Programme for funding the YOP and Ausaid for funding the YOPP for this year.

Project staff in Makira and Choiseul provinces attended the program while team leaders working for Save the Children in Malaita, Isabel, Western and Honiara/Guadalcanal attended the workshop to implement activities for their communities.

Save the Children is a non-government organisation established to protect children’s interests.
