DPP to attend conference in Netherlands.

The Director of the Public Prosecution (DPP) Ronald Bei Talasasa and two of his staff will be joining other DPPs, Attorney Generals and their staff from all around the world in Netherlands in September this year.

The three will attend the 15th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors in Hague.

The theme and topic of the 15th Annual Conference will be ‘crossing borders’ this is in relation to crimes committed across the boarders.

The theme and subthemes which are founded on IAP object Article 1.3 (e) of the Constitution will allow participants to explore the diverse ways of assisting prosecutors worldwide in the fight against international crimes.

The conference will commence on 5 to 9 September.

The sub themes of the conference are, to assist prosecutors internationally in the fight against organised or other serious crime, and for that purpose: (Palermo Convention), to promote international co-operation in gathering and providing evidence; in tracking, seizing and forfeiting the proceeds of serious crime; and in the prosecution of fugitive criminals.

The sub themes continued as, to promote speed and efficiency in such international co-operation, International Criminality (Human Trafficking and Organised Crime), Improving and Speeding up Cooperation between prosecutors (Mutual Legal Assistance, recovering of Fugitive Offenders (Extradition), electronic crime and International criminal justice/the legacy of the international tribunals/tackling impunity.
