Busy day for women today

WOMEN will be out in force today to march out the day.

The march, followed by activities is to mark the International women’s day today.

The day will start with the march from the Women’s Development Division office to the National Art Gallery where all activities and the day’s program will unfold.

Lady Grace Kabui will present the keynote address while the Permanent Secretary of the Women, Youth and Children’s Affairs will talk about Violence and Gender based.

The Family support Centre will also give a talk on domestic violence.

Vois Blo Mere will give a talk on 1325, a book launched last year on women’s issues.

At 2pm, a new book “Being the First” about prominent women in the Solomon Islands will be launched.

The book “Stories Blong Oloketa Mere Lo Solomon Aelan” is a new book featuring 14 key women leaders in Solomon Islands. 

The book is the culmination of over two years of research and planning and its launch coincides with the day.

In the evening, the National Women’s Policy elimination of violence against women will be launched at the National Museum.

Women in Honiara are urged to attend the activities planned for today.

The program is being funded by the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs.

This year’s International Women’s day theme is ‘Equal Rights, Equal Opportunity Progress’.
