Husband is a liar, says wife’s sister

SISTER of a woman allegedly beaten by her husband says a story the husband gave to the Solomon Star yesterday was “nothing but lies”.

Margaret Meki was responding to David Iro Baetalua’s story the Solomon Star published yesterday.

Mr Baetaulua denied beating his wife. He instead claimed his wife was assaulted by a man who raped her outside the City Motel last Saturday night.

Wife Rosemary Nunu’s battered and twisted face was splashed on the front page of the Star on Tuesday after she came out claiming it’s her husband who beat her up.

Mrs Nunua’s sister Margaret told the Solomon Star Mr Baetalua’s version of events on Saturday night were “all made up”.

“It was a made up story that he gave you,” Margaret said.

“The truth is he’d beaten up my sister so badly in his car. When his coward action was exposed in the paper, he came out with lies to cover his ruthlessness.

“This is not the first time he’d done this to my sister.

“He did this many times before. The police must not listen to this man. He must be brought to face justice,” Margaret said.

She said the story of her sister being raped was insulting because there was no such thing like that.

Margaret claimed on Saturday night after Mr Baetalua beat up his wife, they returned home and he lied to their children that they had an accident.

This is why their mother’s face was swollen.

She said the husband also told his children their mother fell and sustained the injuries to her face.

“But he’s lying through his teeth. You can tell the injuries my sister sustained were results of beatings and punches.”

Margaret claimed Mr Baetalua locked up his wife in their home since the story came out on Tuesday and even tore off her medical report on the injuries.

A check to Ms Nunua’s workplace in the last two days revealed she hasn’t turn up for work.

Margaret said they had enough of Mr Baetalua’s treatment of their sister and all they want is for police to arrest and charge him.
