Levo to face trial in High Court

HONIARA lawyer Charles Levo has been committed to stand trial in the High Court.

This was after the Magistrate’s Court found sufficient evidence against him.

Levo is facing 21 counts of conversion and one count of money laundering in relation to the misappropriation of more than $1 million of his client’s money he held in trust.

He appeared in person yesterday at the Magistrates Court when his case was committed to the High Court.

His other matters dating back in 2005, five counts of conversion and one count of common assault will be for trial at the Magistrates Court.

Principal Magistrate Steve Wilson said there were sufficient evidence found after a short form Preliminary Inquiry.

The High Court will fix the date for the hearing.

Maelyn Bird from the Crystal Lawyers is representing the accused.

Bail for the accused is extended.
