MOST ships have remained in port since authorities issued cyclone warnings for the country at the weekend.

Ships cancelled their schedules based on marine advice.

Superintendent of Marine Elliot Cortez said yesterday their warning for ships not to go out is still in place.

The weather office in Honiara over the weekend issued an advice on cyclone Ului, which passed through Renbel overnight on Sunday.

A check by the Solomon Star yesterday revealed most ships berthed at the Point Cruz wharf.

The cyclone brought rough seas, strong winds and heavy rain.

Flooding was also experienced in parts of the country.

In Honiara one of the barges was nearly washed ashore at Ranadi only to be saved by a tug boat.

Meanwhile, Mr Cortez said there are no reports of missing persons.

He said the Search and Rescue unit is on standby since Saturday.
