PRIME Minister Derek Sikua has moved a special adjournment motion yesterday for Parliament to resume tomorrow.
This came after Parliament opened its doors for the final meeting this year last Thursday.
Dr Sikua said the special adjournment is to allow hearing on the Tobacco Control Bill 2010 by stakeholders with the Bills and Legislative Committee today.
He said it is also to allow Government, cabinet and caucus to look through the
'Report of the Special Select Committee on the Political Parties Reform Bills 2009.'
The report was tabled on Monday for MPs to share their views on before the Government tables the Constitutional (Political Parties Amendment) Bill 2009.
Opposition leader, Manasseh Sogavare has supported the request because it will help the Committee finish its work and progress with Government's business.
However, Opposition member and MP for South New Georgia Rendova Tetepare, Francis Zama said he sees no justification for Government to defer the meeting.
Mr Zama said Government has a list of bills standby, therefore it should not waste each day.
Chairman of Bills and Legislative Committee and MP for West Are Are, Severino Nuaiasi said the hearing is important because Chief Executive Officer of Tobacco Company living abroad will appear.
Minister of Health and Medical Services, Clay Forau appeals to stakeholders to appear before the Committee because the Tobacco Control Bill is now long overdue.
The hearing starts 9.30am today.
