THE Economic Association of Solomon Islands (EASI) last night elected its new executive.

Mike Wate has been elected the new chairman.

His deputy is Luke Forau, secretary Donald Kiriau and treasurer Curtis Kalu.

Other members are Hayley Kouto, Collin Tongarutu, and McKinnie Dentana.

Most of them have been elected unopposed.

Speaking after his election, Mr Wate thanked members for showing faith in his new executive.

He said his executive would work hard this year during its term to organise programs and activities for members.

"We would work hard to bring this association to another level in addressing issues of economic interest to this country," he said.

He also stressed that the association would not involve in politics but would discuss issues and promote agendas to help the government make right decisions.

The new executive will end its term in April next year.
