PLANS to turn Naha Clinic in east Honiara into a mini hospital are still in place, according to the council.
City mayor Andrew Mua revealed the plan last year when the council re-opened the clinic after a period of closure to allow for repair. Mr Mua said the plan is still in place although they are yet to submit it to the Ministry of Health.
“We have someone work on the plan and when everything is in place, we’ll approach the ministry,” Mr Mua said.
He said the plan is to use the proposed mini hospital as a referral unit.
"This is to ease the work load at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara," he said.
The mayor said they came up with the idea following the recent tsunami warning that show the evacuation of patients from the hospital.
“This showed the location of the National Referral Hospital was unsafe,” Mr Mua said.
