GOVERNMENT is committed to carrying out its peace and reconciliation work in the country especially on Guadalcanal and its surrounding communities.
Minister of Peace and Reconciliation Sam Iduri made the remarks at the reconciliation ceremony held at Bemuta village near Gold Ridge yesterday.
The reconciliation was between the communities in the area and Gold Ridge Mining Limited.
He said yesterday's ceremony was an important step towards achieving peace and reconciliation in parts of the province.
Mr Iduri said his ministry is working closely with the Guadalcanal province and other stakeholders to organise reconciliation ceremonies.
He said the ceremony organsied by the Gold Ridge Mining Limited (GRML) is a significant step towards achieving lasting peace in the communities and province.
Mr Iduri said the government fully supports such an initiative because it paves the way for a better social relationship while encouraging development in the area.
