TWO senior Royal Solomon Islands Police officers have left for Australia yesterday.

Acting assistant commissioner in charge of operations Nela Masese and Director of Traffic Inspector Maxwell Saelea are on a 12-day trip.

Police commissioner Peter Marshall said inspector Saelea is the special project officer for the upcoming national general elections.

“This is particularly poignant given our obligation leading up to the election and deployment in terms of the many operation affecting our organisation,” Mr Marshall said.

He said the two will travel to Canberra and to Victoria, Melbourne.

“They will be interacting with police counterparts in Melbourne and look at operations and command structures.”
