ANNE Bilston, an ABV (Australian Business Volunteer) has just completed a one month assignment with the West AreAre Rokotanikeni Association.
The assignment assisted the West AreAre Women’s Association with its recording and financial administration system.
“Developing an efficient filing and management recording systems for the Association’s revolving fund scheme, catering activities, financial management and savings club is a significant achievement” said Dr Alice Aruhe’eta Pollard, the founder of the Rokotanikeni Association.
“These systems are important for protecting Rokotanikeni as an organisation and its members from mismanagement, malpractice and corruption.”
The Rokotanikeni Association was started in 1999 and comprises more than 500 women from West AreAre in Malaita Province.
It is a rural based women’s association with the aim of helping women to be industrious and self-reliant through training in skills, leadership and business development.
Anne Bilston, who was accompanied by her husband Steve Bilston has completed a number of assignments with ABV, she has wide experience in community development and microfinance.
Australian Business Volunteers is an international development agency partially funded through the Australian Government aid program – AusAID.
The ABV mission is to contribute to sustainable growth in developing communities through the transfer of knowledge and workplace skills using volunteer expertise.
Each year ABV provides up to 20 short term volunteers to the Solomon Islands.
The ABV program is managed in the Solomon Islands by Pasifiki Services Ltd.
