A NORTH Malaita community leader calls on authorities to find sources of income generation projects where youths in the area could engaged in.
Ringalea Oifena made the call after kwaso producers in wards 7 and 9 surrendered their kwaso making utensils to police recently.
Mr Oifena said kwaso, though illegal, is a major source of income for youths in the area because they don’t have other options.
“Now that these people are leaving this illegal practice and coming forward, what does the government and leaders have for them?” Mr Oifena asked.
“They cannot be left to do nothing. Some form of income generations must be found for them.”
He said if these people are not assisted, they will soon return to this illegal kwaso production.
