RICHARD Ulufa'alu wants to continue his dad's bottom up approach model if he wins the Aoke Langalanga seat in the upcoming election.
He will be up against the Minister for Education and Human Resources, Matthew Wale.
Mr Ulufa’alu last Sunday launched his dad's party platform in Honiara even though one of its wing leader, Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua was absent.
His dad Bartholomew Ulufa'alu initiated the bottom up approach policy when he was an MP.
During his time as finance minister twice and Prime Minister in 2000, late Ulufa'alu urged parliamentarians to take a U-turn to move the country forward.
Mr Ulufa’alu said successive governments failed to implement the Bottom Up Approach his dad initiated.
"The bottom up approach aims to strengthen all the constituencies because it is where the economic base of the country lies.
"The current system we are following are just top down approach," he said.
Mr Ulufa’alu said in the model, the Government needs to carry out three surveys namely: Family House Survey; Village Resource Survey and Family House of Business Profile survey.
He said the three surveys are important to help the Government in its planning to address the underlying problems facing the people in the country.
"Currently we are doing things on guess work," he said.
Mr Ulufa’alu said his dad had tried the model on Aoke Langalanga and has reached his implementation stage.
However, he said the outgoing MP does not want to carry on ward with the model.
"My aim to enter politic is to continue with what my dad left behind.
"I spend about three years with my dad and knew this is one of the alternatives to help the country move forward," he said.
Mr Ulufa’alu said the model answered every problem Solomon Islanders are facing after independence.
"If the Government implements the model, our country will not experience employment problem.
"This is because all the constituencies will be economically viable for people to work," he said.
