This was revealed by a high level team from PAU currently in the country on a week’s visit to talk to students and officials about the university.
The team led by Deputy vice Chancellor Dr Glynn Galo included the Dean of School of Business Ben Thomas and Director Research & Postgraduate Studies Dr Tracie Mafile’o.
They said PAU is proud of Solomon Islands students because of their academic achievements and contribution to the university.
Recently two of the degree students received top awards in business studies.
Another masters student also snatched a top award.
Last week a local female student led her team to win a debate on HIV/AIDS issues organised for the top universities in Papua New Guinea.
“This is good news for the students and the country,” the team said.
Currently about 37 local students are studying at the Port Moresby based university.
Apart from the students there were also local staff working which puts the total Solomon Islanders at the campus at more than a hundred.
PAU is an institution operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Church and offers programs ranging from undergraduate to masters.
A lot of Solomon Islanders graduated from the university and are now serving in the country.
The university offers bachelors in business, education, health science, science and technology, theology, and masters programmes.
