SAVE the Children Child Advocacy project manager Emmanuel Maesua says children’s rights have must be respected.
He said if we are to create a balance environment at home for children to be aware of their rights our children will be brought up with positive attitudes.

“Often adults say they were afraid that if children know so much about their rights they will boss their parents,” he said.

But Mr Maesua said such thinking is not true because once children know their responsibility it’s the parents’ rights to respect the rights of their children before peace and stability can prevail at home.

He said the high rate of child abuse is still around because parents failed to understand that their children also have the same rights like them.

Mr Maesua said this is why there is still a big need for Non Government Organisations and other stakeholders to work together with Save the Children and advocate children’s rights.

“Save the children is only one organisation and we cannot reach out to the whole population of children in the country.

“It’s a job all interested parties must take part in.”
