In just five days, the 28 enthusiastic students were able to learn about the various types of media.
Led by three Australian volunteers, the students went from learning the basics of writing newspaper articles to actually visiting Solomon Star to experience how it all happens in the real world.
Inspired by this visit, combined with the knowledge gained throughout the week, students created newsletters containing articles, features, interviews, photos and designs.
During the visual part of the program, students were introduced to the different techniques of handling video cameras, some even filmed for the very first time.
One of the students commented that “…the media program has helped me to understand what media is all about and has encouraged me to pursue a possible career in Journalism”.
this week the learning intensifies as the aspiring media moguls will be scripting, directing, filming and starring in their very own news programs.
The program will come to an end on Friday with a colorful presentation of all that the students have gained throughout the course. Friends and family of the students will watch on as the students celebrate and receive their certificates.
