Caretaker Minister of Home Affairs, William Haomae, committed the amount during a concert held on Sunday to raise funds for the hospital.
The concert, held at the Maranatha Hall, Burns Creek in east Honiara, featured various gospel groups.
Mr Haomae said the national government values the service Atoifi, a Seventh-Day Adventist Church operated hospital, is giving the nation.
The hospital is raising funds to buy new equipment and refurbish some of its buildings.
Mr Haomae said the government has been partnering with churches to run hospitals and health centres over the past year.
“The government recognises Atoifi because it is located in the rural area and offers invaluable services to those living closer to it.”
Apart from the $50,000 pledge, Mr Haomae said the government’s contribution to Atoifi Hospital School of Nursing this year is more than $150,000.
He added the nursing school provided nurses who are now serving in various hospitals and clinics throughout the country.
Malaita Premier Richard Irosaea also pledged $20,000 towards the fundraising drive from his provincial government.
