Provincial leaders argue over boundaries

WHERE to draw the line may sound easy, but not for provincial premiers who want boundaries to be drawn in their provincial favours.

The constitutional Reform Maritime Boundaries forum which started on Monday this week drew vast interest as premiers argued over provincial boundaries.

The week-long forum will see new provincial boundaries agreed on by provincial premiers.

The new provincial boundaries will be finalized on Friday.

Once the agreement is finalized, the new boundaries becomes the state boundaries.

The document will then be taken to parliament to scrutinize.

Interestingly over the past few days, provincial premiers sometimes ended up in heated arguments over how their provincial boundary should be drawn.

One interesting argument was between Malaita and Isabel provinces over Ramos Island and a reef between the two provinces.

Another debate expected to draw interest will be when the Honiara City Mayor takes on Guadalcanal province premier over the town boundary.

Guadalcanal and Central Islands province will take on the floor today.
