This came after Solomon Islands Party for Rural Advancement (SIPRA) led by Job Duddley Tausinga and Gordon Darcy Lilo hit the campaign trail last Wednesday at the same venue.
The RDP-SI started its program in colorful fashion by introducing its Party’s candidate for Gizo-Kolombangara Constituency, Mockson Aaron.
Then Party’s President, Danny Philip told the packed crowd of their intention to lead the next government if comes into power.
Mr Philip said the Reform and Democratic Party of Solomon Islands is the birth of an idea and the creation of a new political vision.
He said it is enshrouded and consummated through pragmatism and purposed to organising the Solomon Islands society and nation state through the introduction of legislative mechanisms and prescriptions.
“This is to guide the behaviour, application of customs, values, rights and freedoms for promotion of unity, acceptance, equity, justice and stability in the country,” said Mr Philip.
He said it is a political party equipped at revisiting the Solomon Islands social, political and economic drawing board with the intent to: restructure, prioritise, improvised upon and amend when and where necessary the fundamental principles, philisophies and values upon which our country must be founded.
Mr Philip added that for it to skillfully merging these within the context, content and deep appreciation in the implications and dimensions of our inherent and diverse customs, tradition values and practices.
He said the Party is fully committed to the notion that first and foremost the Solomon Islands society needs to be organised in such a way that development, economice growth, national unity and cohesion become the resultant by-products and hall marks of our society today.
“The Party does not believe and wish to negotiate the idea that economic development alone may breed national unity and social stability in the country.
“To the contrary the party promotes the notion that the human problem needs to be understood, skillfully harnessed, prescribed and acknowledged before we, the people of Solomon Islands will accept development, offer and share our resources with others and ultimately with the nation state,”he said.
Mr Philip said: “We simply believe that, forcing developments without organising our society is like throwing a banquette to a horde of thieves.
“I am not ashamed of saying what I’m saying now; that in the last two decades, this country has seen unprecedented thieving in high places and regrettably at the expense of the masses.
“The state institution no longer has the decency for having any regard whatsoever to the people of this country.
“Where is it going to stop, we all wonder?, he questioned
He concluded with a question: “Is not the time now to change and have a total 360 degree turn into a new direction?”.
