Two Returning Officers of West Honiara, Flexi Koraimae and Polycarp Kaelafa conducted the briefing at the Multi-purpose hall.
Polling agents were handed out with leaflets that detailed a polling agent’s jobs and responsibility during the election.
Mr Koraimae said the briefing is important for polling agents to understand their roles.
“Their job is to watch and observe during the election,” Mr Koraimae said.
He said polling agents must follow all lawful instructions given by presiding officers, and that they have certain rights and responsibilities for proper behaviour.
He said they want to make sure polling agents are well prepared and act responsibly inside the polling stations.
He said candidates have the right to appoint up to two people to serve as polling agents during the the election.
Honiara election manager Loti Yates said such the briefing is important for polling agents to understand their roles.
He said polling agents must be prepared to do their duties as required.
A total of 30 polling stations were appointed for West Honiara.
