THE Christian Care Centre at Tenaru yesterday received $2,100 from Westpac Bank.

The donation came from the bank’s recent sale of its 25th anniversary commemorative piggy banks.

Sister Catherine Rosar received the cheque from Westpac People & Learning Facilitator Joyce Nukumuna.

The money will be used to meet basic needs of victims of domestic violence who sought shelter at the centre.

Christian Care Centre is operated by sisters of the Church of Melanesia.

It provides shelter and counseling victims of domestic violence.

Ms Nukumuna said the bank is pleased that the proceeds from the piggy bank sales will benefit a charity organisation.

She thanked the community for their support of the fundraising initiative and for their part in helping Christian Care Centre meet the needs of its clients.

Sr. Catherine thanked Westpac, saying the money will help to buy food, soap and other basic needs for those seeking help at the centre.
