THE National Parliament has put in place a new policy for students wanting to do research at its library.

This policy encourages student to come as individuals and not large groups when seeking to do research on the work of parliament.

National Parliament Assistant Liberian Ray Sipisopere said the new policy was introduced to ensure students get the maximum benefit when going there for research.

“In the past students have been coming in large numbers, as a result, they never learn what they should take note of,” Mr Sipisopere said.

“This is why Parliament decided to put this new policy in place.”

He added that the new research policy is also to ensure the students follow basic library rules that give every student the opportunity to access the parliament library and learn about the work of government and government structure.

Mr Sipisopere explained that if students or members of the public want to do their research on topics like motions of no-confidence and structure of parliament act, they must first apply to the parliament librarian and identify the topic.

‘’This is to ensure the librarian prepares those information.

The assistant librarian urged all students in Honiara and the provinces to visit the parliament library if they have any queries about parliament issues.

“I appeal to the students and the general public to just follow the rules of the library appropriately and behave properly if you have the opportunity to visit the National Parliament Library,” he said.
