FORMER deputy prime minister Fred Fono says he knew nothing about claims his supporters took back assistance he provided to certain communities in Central Kwara’ae Constituency during his tenure.

John Umata of Sita village claimed supporters of Mr Fono went and reclaimed solar panels, generators, and chainsaws from them when Mr Fono lost the seat in the last election.

Mr Umata claimed Laulana School was one of those badly affected by the move.

“We did not want to argue when these people came and as for those goods so we just have to return them,” he said.

“We don’t know whether Mr Fono authorise these men to do what they did,” he said.

Mr Fono told the Solomon Star he was no aware of any thing like that happening.

“I already told my supporters not to take any action like that because these things were bought from public funds.

“I respect democracy and that I accepted my loss.”

Mr Fono said he has not authorise anyone to go and collect back assistances that were given out to communities during his time.
