Kopiu Adventist high school last month witness its first graduation ceremony for the form three students.

The graduation ceremony was described as very successful with guests from the Solomon Islands Mission.

Present at the ceremony are Education Director Francis Leovania, his associate Samson Panda and East Guadalcanal regional director Pr Martin Losi.

Deputy principal Ishmael Tabeti speaking to Solomon Star said Kopiu High School is an institution under the SDA Mission Education Authority.

“This year’s Graduation, 2010, was greatly commented as one of the best graduations ever held on Kopiu campus,” he said.

He said parents, guardians and school supporters flocked in to witness the graduation ceremony this year.

Despite the challenges faced, Mr Tabeti acknowledges all teachers and students for their hard work and commitments towards the successful accomplishment of this year’s programs.

The School also highly salutes the supports and purchasing of the brand new gowns which was purchased and presented to the school by Hon. Bradley Tovosia, Minister of Provincial Governments and MP for the East Guadalcanal.

“These gowns provide the beauty and colorfulness of the graduation day.

“The students are feeling the comfort and concerns bore upon them.

“Building on this, the school expects to excel on such programs again next year and the years to come,” he said.

He pointed out that Kopiu need more recognition from the authorities.

Kopiu was built soley by supporters from outside of the country, particularly Australia and New Zealand through ‘Fly and Build’ programs by Pr. Ervan Ferris.

Tabeti said there are important and higher level programs coming up in which the school needs more of the closer connections and links with its Education Authority.

The school is looking forward to organizing an official opening program next year, 2011 for some of its newly completed infrastructure.

“This will be an official hand-over program where the school is expected to inviting many high ranking officials both inside the country and a millionaire from the United states of America who owns many businesses and several banks about nine in the United States of America.

“It will be a program beyond the capabilities of the school itself and so we call upon the head of the region of Guadalcanal and the Education Authority for more supports and thoughts of experiences into these programs,” he said.

The program is expected to be held on the 16th of April 2011.

Visitors and attendants expected to flow in from overseas and locals including Australia and New Zealand , those who build and fund the school.

The deputy school boss said the Prime Minister and other highest government rank officials will be invited.

In preparations to these major programs the school has already sent a team of several students, about 30, during the June holiday for a promotion and fundraising drive towards these particular programs.

These team tours several of the Adventist churches surrounding Honiara excluding Honiara SDA region.

Kopiu is one of the main mission land contributing much to the enhancement of the Seventh Day Adventist mission movements in the Solomon Islands.

Many Pastors and retired mission workers of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at least may share an experience of spiritual touch on Kopiu mission land.

“It is a place where the Lord in the past has been hovering his workers through challenges they faced,” he said.

Mr Tabeti said the vision for Kopiu school is so great and they are expected to work with the Lord until the end.

The school is undergoing new developments which it is enhancing a one stream new form 4 class next year and is currently building its new science laboratory which also desperately needs supports.
