THE country needs good young godly leaders, those who have the vision for a brighter Solomon Islands.

This was the challenge made by Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) Education Director of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Francis Levania, to form six students of Kukudu Adventist College in the Western Province over the weekend.

A total of 50 students – 26 Arts students, 17 Science students and seven business students – completed their year six and were issued certificates.

The programme started with fellowships and other spiritual programs on Friday and Saturday, and concluded on Sunday with the graduation ceremony and a feast.

Based on the theme ‘Striving for excellence with God,’ Mr Levania challenged the students that this was not the end of their education but another phase completed in preparation for tertiary education.

He challenged the students to be happy at where they’ve reached but most importantly never to stop putting effort in achieving their dreams and aims not only in education but other aspects of life.

“With God by your side, you should never lose hope and sight of your dreams,” he said.

“You must keep on striving for excellence and when you have God by your side, you will indeed succeed your efforts in achieving excellence in everything you do,” Mr Levania said.

He told the students that they are privileged to have attended and graduated from Kukudu because the school is known for producing better citizens.

“You are the future leaders of this nation and the country needs educated and godly young people like yourselves,” he said.

UNICEF’s Whole School Project Officer Adi Galo told the students of the country’s priority list of professions and added that more emphasis and assistance should be put into the education sector as it is the gateway to breeding good future leaders.

“I hope that you will all be able to make wise choices with regards to you future and what carrier you want to take up after high school,” Ms Galo said.

The graduation was attended by leaders of the SDA Mission, non-government organisations, parents and guardians.
