The interim government in Fiji is considering appointing a candidate from overseas to chair its Political Dialogue Forum.
The forum was designed to bring political parties together to discuss a framework for elections.
But it has not met since the constitution was abrogated in April last year.
The Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Pio Tikoduadua has told the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation the government wants a chairperson who will not be biased towards anyone.
He says the government has received more than 200 applications from non-government organisations, the church, chiefs, and others seeking a seat on the forum.
Lieutenant Colonel Tikoduadua says the agenda and the timing for the forum to reconvene has not been set.--rnzi
