HAGEULU community in Isabel province is bracing up for a weeklong festival including sports during this Christmas festive session.
The festival will include sports, islands entertainment coincide with a fundraising event to raise fund for the community church.
The local organising committee based in Honiara over the past weeks have held meetings to finalise what is needed to be done for the weeklong festival.
In their meeting the committee had agreed that the festival will open with a Christmas fellowship following with fundraising activities. This will be followed with Islands entertainment and close with sport activities particularly soccer and netball.
Already the overall prizes for soccer and netball have arrived from Fiji.
The overall trophy is sponsored by President of the Fiji Isabel Student Association Jimmy Daoleni Harrison while the overall trophy for netball was sponsored by Solomon Islands Student Association (SISA) Secretary Charles Kadamana.
Chairman of the local organizing committee Gravis Vahia acknowledged the students for recognising the importance of Christmas and presenting prizes for the community.
He said the community is privilege to receive such support from University students and promise to host this year’s Christmas sport, an enjoyable one.
He said every year the community hosts sport and other program but there is need for more improvement.
He said the community will also raise funds to renovate their church.
“There will a lot of fundraising activities like selling of food, crafts, card games, ticket draws and barbeque.”
He said during the sports, fundraising event and opening fellowship, the village very own band Dodoili will provide the music and entertainments.
