Marist earns historic victory
Marist FC has ended their TSL campaign with a spectacle 4-1 victory over Real Kakamora FC yesterday at the Lawson Tama stadium.
Their final win placed them at the top of the table with 40 points.
Three goals in the first stanza and a lone goal inthe second half was enough for them to go home with a sweet and a historical victory for the club.
Marist’s Australian import Ruben Douglas registered their first goal after nine minutes of the kick off time.
He then extended their lead 18 minutes into the battle and then Atkin Kaua added his name on the score sheet before both teams went for the break.
Kakamora FC came back strong in the second half of the match and managed to reduce the score margin from Paul Hiri’s stunning goal.
However, they could not stop the new champions when KoriakUpaiga nailed their final goal in the 70 minutes of the battle.
Excited Marist’s assistance head coach Jerry Allan told Star Sports after their final match yesterday, that to win the league’s title is a great achievement for the club.
“Firstly I would like to thank Marist management and the players including our Papua New Guinea import players,’’ he said.
“Our mission is now complete,’’ he said.
He said it was a very exciting moment for his boys and management of the club.
“In fact we made a big history,’’ he said.
Allan also stressed that the success of the team was achieved through a strong financial support from their major sponsor and their associate sponsors.
“We would like to thank Y-Sato as our major sponsor as well as Hatanga and QQQ for their great support,’’ he said.
“Without them we will not be able to achieve our mission,’’ he added.
Meanwhile final matches of the league will be played this Saturday.
